Reiki is the Japanese word for universal life energy. It is defined as being that power, which acts and lives in all created matter.

It is a simple and effective method of promoting healing, relaxation and well-being. The energy activates the body’s natural ability to heal itself, cleansing the body of toxins, and working to create a state of balance and harmony.

Reiki is helpful in most conditions, including chronic ailments. It’s very beneficial in relieving pain and stress, and it can be used to support any other type of therapy or treatment.

How does it work? The Reiki therapist channels the life energy through his/her hands to the recipient for the purpose of healing body, mind, spirit and emotions. It accelerates the body’s ability to heal physical ailments, opens the mind and spirit to the causes of disease and pain, reinforcing the recipient’s ability to take responsability for his life.

The treatment lasts 1 hour and is carried out with the recipient fully clothed, and lying on a massage table. It is a non-threatening, non-intrusive therapy, gentle but very powerful and ideal for treating everyone, no matter what their circumstances. It’s a holistic therapy, which both supports and increases the effectiveness of traditional and complementary treatments.

The recipient generally feels a sensation of warmth and perhaps a tingling in the area being touched. As the body’s energy is brought into balance, a deep sense of relaxation is experienced.
