Massage is probably one of the oldest types of physical treatments and has been used in all cultures around the world.

It is is very beneficial for pains of muscular origin and for the majority of complaints in the soft parts of our locomotive system. It is also extremely powerful for relaxation, and as an anti-stress treatment. It consists of manual stimulation of muscles, skin, nerve system and circulation. There are three basic forms of massage:

  • Therapeutic massage as a treatment for muscular pains and stiffness of muscles and joints,
  • Relaxation massage, which is more concentrated on rebalancing body energy and stress release,
  • Sports massage used for warming up before- or cooling down after sporting.Depending on the problem and the type of massage given, various types of techniques are used, like stroking, kneading, stretching, friction, pressure, vibration and more.
  • Massage helps to improve body posture and alleviate pain and stiffness. It activates the brain to release a hormone called serotonine, which gives a feeling of well being.
