Holistic Holidays, Lanzarote, by Sarah Dodd

Overview
Year round, sun drenched villa with specially created outdoor and indoor yoga practice areas, peaceful yet accessible location, and fantastic ocean views.

Description
Perfect destination for anyone interested in yoga or thinking of trying it. Combines great teaching with luxurious location. If you're looking for a place to relax in the sun and do some practice, but can't face an Ashram or are past sleeping in tents, this is ideal. The villa has spectacular views of the ocean, is exceptionally comfortable and scrupulously clean. Stuart and Lynne go to enormous trouble to make guests feel welcome and relaxed, without being intrusive, earnest or bossy. Very quickly you feel as though you're chilling out in an amazing house loaned to you by your new best friend.

Forget the package tour Lanzarote; this is an island floating off the coast of Africa with extraordinarily varied landscape, from scary volcanic moonscape to golden (and black!) beaches powdered with fine sand, tiny white low-level houses and Museum of Modern Art sculptures on several tiny roundabouts.

Highlights
Yoga on the beach as the sun goes down - followed by grilled fish on the rocks.

On higher ground, in an enclave of exclusive villas in Tias. Ten minutes from the airport, yet quiet.

Accommodation
Beautiful, carefully appointed rooms, entirely different from each other. Lynne's attention to detail even stretches to aromatherapy candles, water, coffee, tea & herbal teas and mosquito repellent in every room.

Comfort level
Beds with proper mattresses, three weights of duvet, decent pillows, great shower and bath rooms and a wonderful, huge sitting room and terrace. Excellent.

Breakfast on breads still warm from the bakers, lip smacking varieties of jam, fruits and juices. And they'll try to meet special diet requirements.

Anyone who wants to do yoga in the sun, but would fall about laughing at an Ashram or a hushed health farm.
